GROUNDS MAINTENANCE LABORER

Job Type: Hourly

Pay: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour – Seasonal

Summary:

The Grounds Maintenance Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks in order to complete grounds maintenance service contracts. The grounds maintenance laborer will be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks.

Job Duties:

  • Aid in the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM
  • Cut grass, trim edges, clean up refuse, blow trimmings, fertilize and water turf areas and perform other lawn care duties as directed by foreman
  • Move and install soil, mulch and plant material to assist with the construction of landscape gardens and related areas
  • Spray and dust areas to control insects and or weeds
  • Operate power equipment including, but not limited to, lawn tractors, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters, chain saws, and snow blowers
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Assist foreman in other work-related duties including construction projects, shop and yard maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations

 Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations

 Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience in the landscape/construction industry
  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
  • Effective communication skills – must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, complete simple reports, report progress to foreman
  • Time management skills
  • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
  • Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Requires good manual dexterity
  • Excellent stamina is required
  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
  • Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
  • Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work

CREW LEADER

Job Type: Hourly

Pay: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour – Seasonal

Job Description:

  • Can work in all weather conditions (spring/summer/fall/winter).
  • Hard worker able to adapt and work well with other employees, communicate throughout the day with supervisors, and properly fill out timesheets and work orders.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including work site and equipment. Especially at job sites (Commercial and Residential).
  • Perform duties such as landscape & lawn maintenance, mulching, fertilizing, seasonal décor, watering, mowing, and pruning.
  • Have a working knowledge of plant material and proper planting techniques
  • Can lift up to 50lbs
  • Responsible for loading and unloading trucks at start and end of day making sure that tools and equipment are secure and accounted for.

FOREMAN

Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour – Seasonal

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Oversee the maintenance crew as needed to ensure their work is being completed properly
  • Meet with existing clients to address their needs and ensure service is up to their expectations
  • Meet with new or existing clients to fulfill their landscape needs. Prepare all necessary site evaluations along with pictures to provide the office with all pertinent information to provide a proposal.
  • Oversee landscape installation projects including sourcing materials, coordinating pickup/delivery of materials, labor and trades
  • Ensure trucks are loaded with the proper equipment & materials needed daily
  • Train employees on proper use of equipment, pesticides, planting requirements, etc.
  • Monitor vehicles, tools & small equipment for repairs
  • Computer skills – MS Word & Excel
  • Strong organization skills as well as the ability to multi-task & prioritize
  • Ability to take direction from Superiors as well as be part of a team
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business
  • Valid driver’s license required

Bonus Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Degree in Horticulture/Plant Science a plus
  • Proper plant identification is a plus
  • Ability to read and understand Architectural Plans including hardscape, landscape, irrigation, and lighting a plus is a plus

PRODUCTION MANAGERS

Job Description:

You’d be the primary contact for your clients, building long-term relationships that foster satisfaction, retention, and ancillary sales. You’d also oversee field operations and work with the crew to deliver fantastic service in the field.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Client Satisfaction:
    • Developing and maintaining long-term relationships with clients
    • Performing site walkthroughs with clients to ensure quality and service expectations are met
    • Facilitating the resolution of client concerns to ensure renewal
  • Sales:
    • Proactively presenting site enhancement ideas to your clients
    • Generating referrals from existing clients and passing them to the Business Developer
    • Developing accurate estimates for new and existing clients, maintaining acceptable gross margins that support the branch’s financial goals
  • Operations:
    • Assisting in overall leadership of the crew
    • Coordinating with the Branch Administrator to ensure branch databases contain up-to-date client information

Experience:

  • 1 year minimum of supervisory experience in the landscape or service industry
  • An associate’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience (Preferred)
  • A minimum of 3 years of prior customer service, management, and leadership experience within an organization, the landscaping industry or local marketplace(Preferred)
  • Degree in Horticulture/Plant Science a plus
